DAY 2 : Changdeok Palace(UNESCO) → Rear Garden → Jongmyo(UNESCO) → Bukchon Hanok Village → Insadong Antique Street → Gwangjang Street Food Market → Gyeongju

After a restful night’s sleep, we will depart early for beautiful Changdeokgung Palace, the best preserved of the ‘Five Grand Palaces’ of the Joseon Dynasty. Experience the UNESCO World Heritage site with the guide. It served as a principal palace for many Joseon kings and was the second royal villa built after the Gyeongbokgung Palace in 1405. The grounds are comprised of a public palace area, a royal family residence building, and the rear garden. The rear garden, known as a place of rest for the kings, boasts a gigantic tree that's over 300 years old, a small pond and a pavilion. The garden was kept as natural as possible; touched by human hands only when absolutely necessary. Next, we move to another UNESCO World Heritage site, Jongmyo Shrine. Jongmyo is one of the most important cultural sites in the country and was built to hold the ancestral tablets of the kings of the Joseon Dynasty. Before attending the Korean food feast with the locals, we will drink in the history by taking a walk around Bukchon Hanok Village seeing several traditional Hanok homes. We will then visit Insadong before moving to Gwangjang Food Market, the nation’s first market and continues to thrive as a popular tourist destination today. Transfer to Gyeongju city. (360km / 4.5hr)

Today we will be visiting Gyeongju, ancient capital of the Shilla Dynasty (57BC - 935AD) and the first dynasty to unite the Korean peninsula. Gyeongju is home to no fewer than three UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The magnificent Buddhist monastery Bulguksa temple will be your first destination, followed by Seokguram Grotto. Later we will visit Daereungwon, also known as Tumuli Park, tranquil home of 23 tombs. After the Gyeongju tour, we will depart for Busan (85km / 1.5hr).

Rock cliffs called Taejongdae offer some of the best views of the Eastern Sea. On clear days we can see Japan’s Tsushima Island from the observatory. No visit to Busan is complete without a stop at the traditional Gukje International Market, followed by an exciting exploration of the enormous Jalgalchi Fish Market. Both markets teem with fascinating products and are a great way to glimpse local life. Next, visit the BIFF Square, Busan’s modern movie district. While the rest of the city has been industrialized, Hanok Maeul (village) retains its historical charm and traditions. Jeondong Catholic church in Jeonju (Historic Site No. 288) was built in honor of Roman Catholic martyrs of the Joseon. Transfer to Mt.Songni for temple stay in Beopjusa temple (160km / 2.5hr).

This impressive structure, built in the late 18th century during the latter part of the Joseon Dynasty (1392–1910), is the official fortress of Suwon. Explore the gates and artillery towers along the fortified walls, and listen as your guide explains how the fortress was constructed to demonstrate the king’s filial piety toward his father and to build a new pioneer city with its own economic power. Our last stop is Samsung Innovation Museum in Suwon before dropped off at your hotel. Inside the museum, we can read about the technology companies’ consistent efforts to find new things.
